Very good review.

I have used Poser for simple storyboarding but have left complex 3D pre Viz to an animator that worked for a Denver based company (hear she got a job with Pixar). Sounds like the current Antics is more approchable and may be a tool capable of use by some one like me with limited drawing capabalites.

Poser and sketch-up can do the job just fine for many folks less expensively. You are paying more with Antics for the greater level of integration and the extra custom features. There's also a Toon Boom product that may be somewhat comparable to Antics, a side by side comparison might be useful. The Toon Boom product is however not 3D, and requires some amount of drawing skill.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the positive review, it's much appreciated. Just to update you with the latest from Antics, we launched Antics V3.1 today!

The big news in V3.1 is that we’ve added the ability to import Google SketchUp models. To make things even easier, we have seamlessly integrated Google 3D Warehouse so you can easily download your pick of thousands of free models and drop them straight into your Antics set.

If you’ve already got Antics V3 installed then the good news is that you can upgrade to V3.1 with a simple, free, patch. Our support team will email users very soon giving you details of where you can find the patch and how to install it.

If you’re not already using Antics, or have a version prior to V3, then take this opportunity to download our FREE, fully featured, BasePack from http://www.antics3d.com It has exactly the same features as the paid for version, just less content, no 3DS Max exporter, and support is through our forum. It's not time limited so you can previz to your heart's content!

We're very excited about the latest features - with SketchUp offering a free version, combined with a free version of Antics, you have everything you need for an entire workflow - for free!

Any thoughts, features or questions let me know!

Just another quick update from us that might help you get started. We have just released 6 Antics sets for free download from our store.

The six ready-built sets include a green screen stage, a pirate ship, a newsroom, an aircraft carrier imported from SketchUp, a military scene based in the desert and a domestic scene in a kitchen.

This is the first time we have made pre-built projects available to download from our store, and we will be adding to these regularly over the coming weeks. If you have built any sets in Antics that you think others might enjoy then let us know. If they pass muster we'll upload those too for the Antics community to share!

We hope that these will give people a head start, you can just download a pre-built scene and start directing your action. They will be especially good for new users as they familiarise themselves with Antics, you can get some action directed in a few minutes rather than spending time developing a set.

Enjoy the sets and I hope they get your creative juices flowing!

Gary
