$ 800 Canon T2i Body ( 1080 24P / 30P, 720 60P recording )
$ 600 Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X 116 Pro DX
$ 650 SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II VC LD Aspherical (IF) Lens
$ 30 3rd Party camera batteries ( buy 2 = $60 )
$ 40 Patriot LX 16GB SDHC memory card ( buy at least 3 = $120 )
So for $2,230 you can buy a very good basic camera kit.

Plus a view finder magnifier so that you can pull focus $400 to $1200.
Zacto pro3x kit $466
Redrock eysspy standard shoulder mount $826.
ADD $1292.
$2230
So real minimum is $3422.
Zoom lenses are pretty problematic except for the very high end ones because they breath badly. All the folks I know that use the HDSLRS have 8 to 12 lenses at around $14 to 20k.
A good external LCD runs around $800 to $4000.
A friend has a 700. He has a Sound Devices mix pre and a balanced to unbalanced adapter (shure) so that's all the better it gets at about $750 and it still isn't quite as good as the 150. IMHO the Beachtek is a waste of money and I am not familiar with the JuiceLink adapter.
So in reality you are looking at an additional $750 to $800 to get decent audio for the 700. It is a pain handling and using extra pieces and cables that you don't have to mes with using the 40/150.
As for a HDSLR the real entry point is more like $4k than not and for the VEVIL cameras more like $3k.
