I hope this is the correct place for this question.

We have a client who would like to run a selection of videos in his premises on a HDTV. As we will be producing the videos, we would like to know the best way to handle this before we start.

At the moment we believe that using a HD media drive, such as Iomega HD Screenplay (or asking them to buy Apple TV) would be the best way to tackle this. Using Apple compressor to output H.264 or the best quality files we can, given that file size and download speed will not be an issue here.

We are concerned that the HD quality output from this approach will not do the videos justice (high end power yachts!). We tried to test this today using our older Iomega HD screenplay media drive (not the 'pro' or 'director' models) and whatever we copied to it - H.264 / Mpeg4/.MOV, the files would not even show up in the media drive directory through our HDTV. They were all output from 'Compressor'.

Can anybody tell us if this is right approach for this client or is there a better method?

Clearly we are not going to get far with our particular HD media drive but I have heard that this particular HD media drive is not so good with file formats.

Any help would be gratefully received.

A whole slew of problems involving cs5, macbook, and AVCHD.

Hi folks sorry this has to be my first post here, but i'm a little sick of this.

I am running : Intel macbook 2.18 dual
2gb ram 80 GB HD, 320 gig external, + 750 gig external

SONY HDR-SR12

ADOBE CS5 Production Premium

I have been shooting for the past year with a SONY HDR-SR12, which I was reluctant to get due to the USB transfer, and rightfully so! AVCHD format has given me nothing but problems since I started using it. I had to capture with 2 A/V jacks coupled together and running through my old DV cam to even start getting an idea of what I am trying to do. Now I have CS5 and the MTS files are choppy looking when I import, and there is no way of de-interlacing the video upon rendering, as far as i can tell.

Adobe CS5 also started eating up space on my drive which I now cannot recover, it just seemed to up and vanish, even though I directed all my capture and media cache files to an external drive. I had 3GB free on the internal drive when I started, then my drive plummeted to 200 MB and I cannot find where these files are or what is going on with them, they have seemed to simply eat up the space without a trace.

Do you think I might need some sort of codec update? what about a way to transfer MTS to another hi-res format? It is getting very old, and I am seriously sick of this, I want to finish this project, it has been entirely too long!

you can see previews from this project here

It is my album and movie combined into one. I really want to get everything into HD! Thanks for peering into my frustration for a moment.
