I am trying to choose between the JVC GY-HM710U and GY-HM750 however other than about $1,000...I can't find anything different between the two.

Anyone know specifically what is different?
What would you suggest I go for?

I do a lot of event coverage, some live bands...mostly of this is in low light situations.

Topics include how to use a floating stereo window, how to handle convergence within the computer, and what pitfalls to avoid when working with video in 3D. If you're working with animation or stereoscopic 3D, there's probably something in this presentation that you would enjoy.

I've picked up some chatter, and seen some
incidences, of falling prices on SSD drives.
What I've heard is that the major manufactures
if SSD drives ( OCZ, Crucial, Intel, Kinkston, et al )
want to drive away any new players especially
in the low end capacity of the market.

In addition to this the SSD manufactures want
to take away the very low end of the HDD
market. Basically make any traditional under
the capacity of say 100GB HDD irrelevant.
128GB SSD drives are all moving under $150.
60GB SSD drives are in the $70 so that's
pretty much on a parity with traditional
HDD in the 80GB range. Although there's
not much of a market out there for <100GB HDD
the SSD manufactures want to put a nail
in that coffin. Watch'em go after the under
250GB HDD market by the end of the year.

I have a Sony Z5P. I have recorded a friends wedding, 1080i 25P.
(Just making sure, the Sony Z5P does not record 1080P does it..?)

Anyways, a friend said to me. If I play back the recorded footage using the Sony Z5P, I will "build up the usage hours". He said, its best to use another HDV camcorder to keep the "usage hours low on the Z5P" ??

What do you think people?

Which 'cheap camcorder' would you recommend then for doing this??

Any truth is this?? Is this good practise? Will it help keep my Sony Value. Currently my usage time is only 2x10 hours for everything..

Please help!

I posted a while back about looking forward to playing with my Contour on my RC Helis.

The vibrations cause lots of jello, but this first video at least shows the durability of the unit as it fell from the heli while it was shooting. The vantage point on ground was actually interesting too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6jUmuzULGo
This was shot using my big heli and the results were better.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWZijiMDN-M

Right now I have the camera mounted straight to the helis with NO dampening of any kind, so this was an acid test. I have some ideas on how dampen things up quite a bit and I'll try again.

This is the story behind my pet project this summer - A one-shot stop-motion music video for one of my freshly recorded songs. It's still a work in progress but a lot of the work has been done and it's looking awesome.

The concept and idea

I'd just finished writing my first CD and wanted to make a filmclip to cap it all off. I was inspired by this awesomely creative clip and thought it'd be a lot of fun to do something similar.

We liked the original concept; We'd get to meet all those people and get them all involved in the creative process and then hopefully get them interested in the music. It's also a really novel idea in general and novel ideas can sometimes get some good attention. Just look at the original, it's had over 1.5 million views.

We didn't want to just copy that idea so to spice things up a bit we changed the original format a bit. Instead of getting developed photos, we used an iPad. This gave us a colour video and a couple of other awesome little tricks we could work with, which I'll show you later.

Next spice up... I'd written a song called “This Man's Brighter Days”, about the lighter side of breakup... so this meant the photos could only be done with cute girls to match the theme... also conveniently made the project just a little more fun ;)

So here's the basic concept explained through the medium of dodgy animations!

First, we film a video clip for the song:

Next we split that video into it's different frames and load them all onto an iPad:

Now we run around the city ask a few hundred girls to hold up one frame on the iPad while we take their photo :

(note: not a real girl)

And then finally we piece all those photos together to get the original video happening again on the iPad while those smiling faces fly by:

Should be easy enough!

Stay Tuned, to be continued...
